Fireworks and sparklers

We cannot accomodate fireworks due to the equestrian and farming establishments that surround the venue and our own family of resident ducks, but we do allow controlled use of sparklers in particular areas of the venue for photos with your photographer during the evening.

Real candles

Real candles can be used with some restrictions due to our insurance and health & safety measures. For an inside ceremony, you can have one church pillar-style candle in a high sided vessel on the registrars table and real candles in enclosed lanterns can line the aisle. For the wedding breakfast, you can have one church pillar-style candle per table in a high sided vessel such as a hurricane vase or lantern. Outside on the terrace or outside ceremony area, real candles can be used but you may find that LED candles are a more weather-resistant alternative! We do not allow any real tea lights in any area but LED options work as a great alternative. Wired fairy lights also look lovely mixed with greenery in lanterns and vases.

Confetti

Confetti is always allowed but restricted to outside use on the path between the arch and barn steps after your ceremony. We kindly ask that confetti is supplied through yourselves as the couple or your florist, as opposed to guests bringing their own packets, and must be real natural dried or fresh petals. We cannot allow any other type of confetti, even paper or biodegradable, to be thrown on the day due to our lakeside location and family of resident ducks. When sourcing confetti, remember that a little often goes a long way, and bubbles are always a great alternative in bad weather as they can be blown indoors.

Table confetti or confetti balloons

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any table confetti of any variety or confetti balloons/canons/poppers.

Glitter or gem stations

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any glitter or gem make-up stations or activities indoors or outdoors, due to our lakeside location and family of resident ducks.

Children's activities

It is always a good idea to plan some fun activities to keep any young guests entertained. Children and adults alike are welcome to use the golf course for games, and smaller garden games like hoop toss and giant jenga work well on the terrace. Brookfield Barn can accomodate staffed bouncy castles with the relevant insurance and certification on the golf course, but please contact us to discuss this prior to booking a bouncy castle. Colouring activities and board games are another great idea for indoor entertainment. Please note that we cannot accomodate paints, pens, glue or glitter for craft activities - please get in touch to discuss any other childrens' activities in detail. If you plan to have a lot of young guests at your wedding, it may be worth considering a childminding service to provide care staff and activities for children for a portion of the day/evening. While we do not recommend any one particular provider, there are a lot of great options in the local area, including ones offering wedding-specific services.
